about_rojas.png

Rojas was born in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic, and immigrated to Washington Heights, New York City at the young age of 7 years old. As a child she spent most of her time in the kitchen helping her mother prepare meals for the family, aside from learning to prepare Dominican meals, Rojas also learned to create her very own non-traditional recipes and how to pick the perfect pots and pans for cooking them. As a young adult, she experimented with baking and outdid herself with her exquisite desserts quickly becoming the family’s go-to for baked goods.

Rojas' first career was as a Nanny but cooking wasn’t far behind. In one position, she developed her skills by experimenting with recipe development and exploring various nutritional recipes for the children she cared for. While working with a Jewish family she learned to prepare Kosher meals. Rojas finds great pleasure observing how much people enjoy her food. In 2013 she became more serious about her culinary passion and enrolled in The Institute of Culinary Education. Her culinary repertoire flourished during her internship at Bouchon Bakery & Cafe where she was exposed to French cuisine expressions. Under the tutelage of various chefs, Rojas has surpassed the expectations of an apprentice and has refined her culinary techniques. In 2016 Rojas was offered the role of Executive Chef at Pop + Pour Cafe, a cafe featuring small plates tastefully paired with Inwood’s sublime wine and craft beer.

Beyond her professional work, Rojas enjoys all things related to travel, food, drink, and spending time with her love ones.

I've always had a passion for creating deliciousness.
As a child I’d always wonder what my next creation would be.
Today I do this for a living and it's the best feeling in the world.
